Issue Description

On a Windows 10 OS environments with a McAfee Antivirus installed the LongTailPro.swf file is marked as a treat and it’s automatically put under Quarantine by McAfee.

The false-positive finds a “SWF/Exploit-Rig.b” exploit in the SWF file, this declaration was added on the January, 17th 2017 McAfee Release.

McAfee Labs Stinger (64-bit)

This is a false-positive because the LongTailPro SWF runs natively in a self-wrapper environment (AIR) and according to the Virus Profile, the virus uses an HTML page to load and decrypt a malicious Javascript code to run in the browser.

“These are probably parameters passed to the server to be used in creating a unique exploit for that machine, which will only run on that specific system. This is possible what is used by the HTML page to load and decrypt the javascript in it, which in turn must be used to load the SWF file.

This issue produce the following error alert when the user try to open LongTailPro

We recommend to reboot the PC once to ensure that all files have been excluded, and that McAfee will not interfere withLongTailPro.

Although we provide this information as a convenience, LongTailPro has no control over an antivirus product’s detection, quarantine or removal process. If our guides are not helpful in your specific case, we recommend contacting your antivirus product support for additional help on creating software exclusions and general product functionality.

Even if you do not receive a notice during or after LongTailPro installation, we strongly recommend immediately excluding LongTailPro from future McAfee scanning to avoid potential interruption of service, and creating a rule for the LongTailPro service in the McAfee firewall if you are using it.
